• In direct ELISAs, less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human SOCS-1, -2, -3, -6, and -7 is observed.

Target Information

Cytokine receptor signaling is negatively regulated by a family of Src homology 2 domain-containing adaptor molecules termed SOCS (Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling).
Eight members of the SOCS family have been identified: SOCS-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and CIS.
Structurally, SOCS proteins consist of:

• An N-terminal region of variable length and composition
• A central SH2 domain
• A C-terminal SOCS box motif

SOCS proteins form a classical negative feedback loop that regulates cytokine signal transduction via a STAT-induced transcriptional mechanism. Transcription of SOCS genes occurs rapidly in response to cytokines, and each member inhibits signaling through distinct mechanisms.
