Target Information
NALP proteins are cytoplasmic proteins forming a subfamily within the larger CATERPILLER family and play crucial roles in cell proliferation and reproduction. NALP12 (Monarch-1) contains a C-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region, an N-terminal Pyrin domain (PYD), a NACHT domain, and a NACHT-associated domain. It acts as an attenuating factor of inflammation by suppressing NF-kappa-B activation through TLR-signaling molecules such as MyD88, IRAK-1, TRAF6, and RIPK1 in activated monocytes. Mutations in NALP12 are associated with hereditary periodic fever syndromes.
