CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It functions as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin, playing a key role in platelet aggregation.
CD61 (105 kDa) associates with integrins such as CD41 (alpha IIb) and CD51 (alpha V) at the cell surface. It is expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes, endothelial cells, monocytes, and osteoclasts.
CD61 participates in cell adhesion and signaling pathways.
