Target Information

Kcnb2 (Kv2.2) encodes a voltage-gated potassium (K⁺) channel that plays a key role in neuronal membrane excitability. Differences in K⁺ channel expression and density contribute to variations in action potential waveforms and firing patterns among neuronal cell types. Delayed rectifier-type IK channels (Kv1.5, Kv2.1, Kv2.2) are expressed in neuronal somata and dendrites, as well as in non-neuronal cells such as pancreatic islets, alveolar cells, and cardiac myocytes. Kv2.1 and Kcnb2 form distinct K⁺ channel populations, primarily responsible for IK in superior cervical ganglion cells. Functionally, Kcnb2 mediates voltage-dependent potassium ion permeability, opening or closing in response to membrane potential changes. Diseases associated with KCNB2 include Brugada Syndrome.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
