Product Specific Information

Phospho-Nephrin (Tyr1176) Antibody detects endogenous levels of Nephrin only when phosphorylated at Tyr1176.

Target Information

Primary steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS) is characterized by childhood onset of proteinuria and progression to end-stage renal disease. Kidney podocytes and their slit diaphragms form the final barrier to urinary protein loss.
Congenital nephrotic syndrome (CNS) is caused by mutations in NPHS1 (nephrin) or NPHS2. Nephrin is a cell adhesion molecule and a key component of the slit diaphragm, playing a crucial role in maintaining the glomerular filtration barrier.
Mutations in the Nephrin gene can lead to congenital nephrosis. Podocin, Nephrin, and alpha Actinin 4 are major podocyte proteins associated with proteinuria. Nephrin’s anti-apoptotic activity in podocytes is linked to VEGF signaling and may help anchor the slit diaphragm to the actin cytoskeleton.
