Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the 94 kDa SV40 large T antigen and the 20.5 kDa SV40 small T antigen. Recommended positive controls include SV80 or SV-T2 cells.
Target Information
The SV40 T antigen is encoded by the early region of the SV40 genome. The large T antigen binds DNA and complexes with the 53 kDa cellular protein p53, which is required for initiation of viral DNA replication during lytic growth. Additionally, the large T antigen binds DNA polymerase and transcription factor AP-2 and forms a specific complex with the P105 product of the retinoblastoma susceptibility gene.
