Target Information
CD122 (Interleukin 2 receptor beta chain, IL2RB) is involved in T cell-mediated immune responses and is primarily expressed in the hematopoietic system. It exists in three forms:
- Low affinity form: Monomer (alpha subunit), not involved in signal transduction
- Intermediate affinity form: Alpha/beta subunit heterodimer
- High affinity form: Alpha/beta/gamma subunit heterotrimer
The intermediate and high affinity forms mediate receptor endocytosis and mitogenic signal transduction. CD122 encodes the beta subunit, a type I membrane protein. Dysfunctions are associated with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and rheumatoid factor-negative juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
