Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1, PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor involved in regulation of T cell and B cell signaling via immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). Upon phosphorylation, these motifs serve as docking sites for protein-tyrosine phosphatases.
CD31 is expressed ubiquitously within the vascular compartment, mainly at junctions between adjacent cells. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, playing a crucial role in cell–cell interactions.
It is a multifunctional molecule involved in:
- Integrin-mediated cell adhesion
- Transendothelial migration
- Angiogenesis
- Apoptosis
- Negative regulation of immunoreceptor signaling
- Autoimmunity and macrophage phagocytosis
- IgE-mediated anaphylaxis and thrombosis
