Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the sorting nexin (SNX) family. Members of this family contain a phox (PX) domain, which binds phosphoinositides and is involved in intracellular trafficking.
SNX9 lacks a coiled coil region but includes an SH3 domain near its N-terminus. It interacts with cytoplasmic domains of precursor forms of ADAM9 and ADAM15, binds the beta-appendage domain of adaptor protein 2, and assists its role at the plasma membrane.
SNX9 also interacts with activated Cdc42-associated kinase-2 to regulate degradation of epidermal growth factor receptor protein.
