Product Specific Information

This 19.2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD206, also known as macrophage mannose receptor (MMR). CD206 is expressed on macrophages and dendritic cells, and can also be detected on non-immune cells such as hepatic and lymphatic epithelia and kidney mesangial cells.
CD206 binds glycoproteins terminating in D-mannose, L-fucose, or N-acetylglucosamine, and various hormones. It undergoes constitutive internalization and recycling between the plasma membrane and endosomal compartment, playing roles in antigen processing, cell migration, and intracellular signaling.
CD206 contributes to phagocytosis of pathogens such as Candida albicans, Leishmania, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of stimulated normal human peripheral blood monocytes.
Use at 5 µL (0.06 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Excitation: 633–647 nm; Emission: 660 nm; Laser: Red Laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.


Target Information

CD206 (MSR, Mannose receptor, MRC1) is a 175 kDa transmembrane protein belonging to pattern recognition receptors. It is expressed in tissue macrophages, dendritic cells, endothelial subpopulations, and sperm cells.
CD206 plays a role in innate and adaptive immune responses, and mediates recognition and uptake of macromolecules such as modified lipoproteins, advanced glycation end products (AGEs), and amyloid β-protein (Aβ).
Normal CD206 function is linked to cell adhesion and host defense mechanisms, but also implicated in atherosclerosis and amyloid β deposition in Alzheimer’s disease.
CD206 gene encodes class A macrophage scavenger receptors (types 1, 2, 3 via alternative splicing). Types 1 and 2 mediate endocytosis of modified LDLs, while type 3 lacks endocytic function and may exert dominant negative regulation of receptor activity.
CD206 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as leprosy and Gaucher’s Disease.
