Target Information
PAX5 is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. PAX proteins play crucial roles in early development, and alterations in their expression are associated with neoplastic transformation.
PAX5 functions as a B-cell lineage-specific activator protein (BSAP), expressed at early but not late stages of B-cell differentiation. It is also detected in developing CNS and testis, suggesting roles in neural development and spermatogenesis.
Mutations in the PAX5 gene can result in leukemia and acute lymphoblastic disorders.
