Target Information
Lin28 is a transcription factor initially identified for its role in developmental timing in C. elegans. It plays a critical role in stem cell biology and the generation of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. Lin28, in combination with transcription factors such as POU5F1, Sox2, and NANOG, can reprogram somatic cells into iPS cells. This process has potential applications in regenerative medicine by avoiding viral vectors and improving safety for therapeutic use.
