Target Information
Laminins are extracellular matrix glycoproteins and key noncollagenous components of basement membranes. They are involved in cell adhesion, differentiation, migration, signaling, neurite outgrowth, and metastasis. Laminins consist of three non-identical chains—alpha, beta, and gamma (formerly A, B1, and B2)—forming a cruciform structure with three short arms and one long arm.
Defects in the LMNB1 gene can cause adult-onset autosomal dominant demyelinating leukodystrophy (ADLD).
