Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse IL-12 is observed, 5% with recombinant human IL-12, and less than 10% with recombinant feline and canine IL-12.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level: <0.30 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
IL12B (IL-12 p40) encodes a subunit of interleukin 12, a cytokine that acts on T and natural killer cells with broad biological activities. Interleukin 12 is a disulfide-linked heterodimer composed of a 40 kDa subunit (encoded by IL12B) and a 35 kDa subunit (encoded by IL12A).
This cytokine is expressed by activated macrophages and is essential for Th1 cell development and long-term protection against intracellular pathogens.
Overexpression has been observed in the CNS of multiple sclerosis patients, suggesting involvement in disease pathogenesis.
Promoter polymorphism of this gene is associated with asthma severity in children.
