Target Information
Heat shock proteins (HSP) are expressed in response to various biological stresses, including heat.
HSP90 is a 90 kDa protein that is induced under stress conditions but is also one of the most abundant cellular proteins found under non-stress conditions.
HSP90 proteins are highly conserved molecular chaperones involved in:
- Signal transduction
- Protein folding and degradation
- Morphologic evolution
They associate with cochaperones and are essential for folding newly synthesized proteins or refolding denatured proteins after stress.
HSP90 interacts with intracellular proteins such as steroid receptors, actin, tubulin, aryl hydrocarbon (Ah) receptor, and various kinases.
