Target Information
Cystatin superfamily는 여러 개의 cystatin-like 서열을 포함하는 단백질군으로, 일부는 활성 cysteine protease 억제제이며 다른 일부는 이러한 기능을 잃었거나 갖지 않습니다. 이 유전자는 cysteine protease 억제 기능을 가진 stefin을 암호화하며, papain 및 cathepsins B, H, L과 강한 복합체를 형성합니다. 또한, 이 단백질은 keratinocytes의 cornified cell envelope의 전구체 단백질 중 하나로서 표피 발달과 유지에 관여합니다.
