Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human Galectin-3. Anti-Human Galectin-3-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect hGalectin-3 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human Galectin-3 (500-P246) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of recombinant hGalectin-3.

Western Blot:
To detect hGalectin-3 by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
With compatible secondary reagents, detection limit for recombinant hGalectin-3 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Galectin-3 is a galactose-specific lectin that binds IgE. It may mediate, with the α3β1 integrin, the stimulation by CSPG4 of endothelial cell migration. Together with DMBT1, it is required for terminal differentiation of columnar epithelial cells during early embryogenesis.
In the nucleus, it acts as a pre-mRNA splicing factor. It is involved in acute inflammatory responses, including neutrophil activation and adhesion, monocyte/macrophage chemoattraction, opsonization of apoptotic neutrophils, and mast cell activation.
