Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속합니다. GFAP는 중추신경계의 성상교세포 및 특정 astroglia, 말초신경절의 위성세포, 비수초성 Schwann 세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 강하게 발현되며, GFAP 항체는 astrocytic 세포의 마커로 유용합니다. 많은 종류의 뇌종양(astrocytic 세포 유래 추정)에서도 GFAP가 강하게 발현됩니다. 그 외에도 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 일부 타액선 종양 세포, 적혈구에서도 보고되었습니다. GFAP는 발달 중 astrocyte와 다른 교세포를 구분하는 데 사용되며, GFAP 유전자 돌연변이는 드문 신경계 질환인 Alexander disease를 유발합니다. GFAP 유전자의 대체 스플라이싱은 다양한 이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 전사체 변이를 생성합니다.
