Target Information
L-plastin is a leukocyte-specific actin bundling protein belonging to the fimbrin family. It contains two actin-binding domains and two EF-hand type calcium-binding domains. Phosphorylation occurs on the serine residue in its headpiece region in response to inflammatory stimuli.
It is hypothesized that L-plastin regulates integrin-mediated adhesion in leukocytes. L-plastin is expressed in most human cancer cell lines derived from solid tumors and is upregulated by testosterone in androgen receptor-positive prostate and breast cancer cells through three androgen receptor binding elements located upstream of the gene.
