Product Specific Information

This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits and screening individual clones to select optimal candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for Human CSEN/calsenilin/KCNIP3.

Target Information

Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels are key components of potassium currents in the heart and central nervous system. In the heart, Kv4 channels contribute to the repolarization phase of the action potential, while in the brain they prevent reverse propagation of action potentials.

Associated with Kv4 channels are calcium-binding proteins termed KChIPs (Kv channel interacting proteins). These small proteins bind to the cytoplasmic amino termini of Kv4 alpha-subunits and modulate their function.
There are three known KChIPs:

  • KChIP1: expressed in the brain
  • KChIP2: expressed in the brain, heart, and lung (three isoforms: a, b, c)
  • KChIP3: also known as calsenilin or DREAM, expressed in the brain and testis

KChIP3 not only modulates Kv4 currents but also binds to the regulatory DRE and represses transcription from the early-response gene c-fos, functioning as a DNA-binding transcriptional regulator.
It is also associated with presenilins and implicated in beta-amyloid formation.
