Target Information
14-3-3 is a family of acidic, soluble proteins highly conserved from yeast to mammals, expressed in all eukaryotic cells. Seven isoforms (beta, gamma, epsilon, eta, zeta, sigma, tau/theta) are encoded by distinct genes and form homo- and hetero-dimeric cup-shaped structures. 14-3-3 interacts with over 100 binding partners, regulating key proteins involved in signal transduction, cell cycle, transcriptional control, proliferation, apoptosis, and ion channel physiology. It is abundantly expressed in the brain and detected in cerebrospinal fluid of patients with neurological disorders.
