Product Specific Information

• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid. Dilute only before immediate use.
• Immunoelectrophoresis shows a single precipitin arc against anti-peroxidase and anti-Mouse Serum.
• Reacts with recombinant GFP (Aequorea victoria) by Western blot and ELISA.
• No cross-reactivity with RFP.

Target Information

The jellyfish Aequorea victoria produces green fluorescent protein (GFP), which emits green light (peak 508 nm) upon excitation with blue light (395 nm). GFP serves as a widely used reporter protein for gene expression and protein localization studies in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems.
As a fusion tag, GFP enables visualization of protein localization, movement, and subcellular dynamics.
GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that forms its fluorescent pigment autocatalytically, requiring no additional cofactors.
Applications include monitoring gene expression, studying protein–protein interactions (e.g., yeast two-hybrid), and FRET-based distance measurements.
