Target Information
NIPA2 encodes a protein that functions as a selective magnesium (Mg²⁺) transporter. The gene is located adjacent to the imprinted domain within the Prader-Willi syndrome deletion region on chromosome 15. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants, and pseudogenes are found on chromosomes 3, 7, and 21.
Diseases associated with NIPA2 include Angelman Syndrome and Prader-Willi Syndrome.
