Gene: CSNK2A1
Protein Function: Serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates acidic proteins. Exists as a tetramer composed of alpha, alpha-prime, and two beta subunits. Alpha subunits contain catalytic activity; beta subunits undergo autophosphorylation.
Genetic Information: CK2 alpha-1 is located on chromosome 20. A related pseudogene is found on chromosome 11. Three transcript variants encoding two different proteins have been identified.
