Target Information

Protein Kinase C (PKC) isoforms are serine/threonine kinases involved in diverse signal transduction pathways regulating differentiation, proliferation, gene expression, brain function, membrane transport, and cytoskeletal organization.
PKC plays a key role in cell cycle transitions (G1, G2 checkpoints), acting as either a positive or negative regulator depending on activation timing and isozyme type.
At least 12 PKC isoforms have been identified in humans, including α, βI, βII, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ, ι, λ, and μ.
PKC βII, for example, is expressed in cardiac muscle, intestinal epithelium, kidney, and pancreas, and is implicated in cell cycle progression and cancer proliferation.
