Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody XML1Y1 recognizes CD304 (Neuropilin-1), a type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on various cell types including regulatory T cells (Tregs), NKT cells, dendritic cells, stem cells, neurons, endothelial cells, and some tumor cells.

Neuropilin-1 acts as a co-receptor for type 3 semaphorins in neurons and participates in angiogenesis as part of the VEGF receptor complex in endothelial cells. In mice, Neuropilin-1 is expressed on thymus-derived natural Tregs but not on peripherally induced Tregs, and transiently on recently activated non-regulatory T cells. It serves as a marker for recent thymic emigrants in mouse iNKT cells.

Neuropilin-1 forms complexes with TGF-β receptors, activating latent TGF-β and enhancing Smad2/3 signaling. This XML1Y1 antibody recognizes neuropilin-1 isoforms 1 and 2.

Target Information

Neuropilin-1 is a 923-amino-acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. Neuropilin-1 forms heterodimers with Neuropilin-2 (NRP2) and binds plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors.

Primarily expressed in the nervous system, Neuropilin-1 is involved in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, neuronal migration, and organogenesis. It also functions as a receptor for semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis.

Neuropilin-1 expression has been associated with aggressive prostate and breast cancer progression.
