Antibody detects endogenous levels of total KCNJ10.

Target Information

The KIR (inwardly rectifying potassium channel) family of potassium channels preferentially allow potassium ions to flow into the cell rather than out.
KIR4.1 (also known as Kir1.2) is highly expressed in brain tissues including glial cells, astrocytes, and cortical neurons. It is also present in myelin-synthesizing oligodendrocytes and plays a critical role in myelination during nervous system development.
The human KIR4.1 gene maps to chromosome 1.
KIR4.2 (Kir1.3) is expressed in kidney, lung, heart, thymus, and thyroid during development, and its gene maps to chromosome 21, within the Down syndrome chromosome region 1, suggesting a potential role in Down syndrome pathogenesis.
KIR5.1 forms functional channels only when coexpressed with either KIR4.1 or KIR4.2 in kidney and pancreas.
