Target Information
Vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) is a member of the Ena-VASP protein family. These proteins contain an EVH1 N-terminal domain that binds proteins with E/DFPPPPXD/E motifs, targeting them to focal adhesions. The mid-region has a proline-rich domain that interacts with SH3 and WW domain-containing proteins, while the C-terminal EVH2 domain mediates tetramerization and binds G and F actin. VASP is associated with filamentous actin formation and plays a key role in cell adhesion and motility. It may also participate in intracellular signaling pathways regulating integrin-extracellular matrix interactions. VASP is regulated by cyclic nucleotide-dependent kinases PKA and PKG.
