Product Specific Information
- Reconstitution: Add 100 µL distilled water to achieve ~1 mg/mL concentration.
- For conjugation experiments, perform desalting (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and epithelial layer formation. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking adhesion complexes to the actin cytoskeleton.
Beta-catenin also associates with signaling pathways involving tyrosine kinases, phosphatases, and Wnt/Wingless, influencing morphogenesis and tumorigenesis.
In the nucleus, beta-catenin coactivates Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting the expression of genes such as cyclin D and c-myc that drive cell proliferation.
Aberrant beta-catenin activity is implicated in various cancers including colorectal, ovarian, breast, liver, lung, gastric, prostate, and skin tumors.
