The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain with thrombospondin type-1 modules) is a family of zinc-dependent proteases involved in various physiological and pathological processes such as arthritis and cancer. Members of this family have an N-terminal propeptide domain, a metalloproteinase domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and a C-terminus containing multiple thrombospondin type-1 (TSP-1) motifs.
ADAMTS-7 (ADAM metallopeptidase with thrombospondin type 1 motif, 7), also known as COMPase, is a 1,686 amino acid protein encoded on human chromosome 15q25.1. It contains eight TSP-1 motifs and binds one zinc ion per subunit. ADAMTS-7 is expressed in multiple tissues including heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, and pancreas, as well as in meniscus, bone, tendon, cartilage, synovium, fat, and ligaments. It is upregulated in articular cartilage and synovium of arthritis patients and functions as a metalloprotease possibly involved in COMP degradation. Its enzymatic activity is pH-dependent, with optimal activity between pH 7.5 and 9.5.
