This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PI 3 Kinase Class 2A.

Target Information

The Class II PI3 kinases, including PIK3C2A, phosphorylate the 3 position of PI or PI4P. Although less studied than Class I PI3 kinases, Class II enzymes are linked to receptor-mediated processes such as insulin signaling, neuronal survival, and growth factor signaling.
PI3-kinases are involved in pathways regulating cell proliferation, oncogenic transformation, cell survival, migration, and intracellular protein trafficking.

PIK3C2A contains a lipid kinase catalytic domain and a C-terminal C2 domain, characteristic of Class II PI3-kinases. C2 domains act as calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding motifs mediating membrane translocation and protein interactions.
The PI3-kinase activity of this protein is not sensitive to nanomolar levels of the inhibitor wortmanin. It can be activated by insulin and may participate in integrin-dependent signaling.
