• Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis:
  Human, Gorilla, Orangutan, Gibbon, Monkey, Marmoset, Sheep, Dog, Bovine, Cat, Elephant, Panda, Horse, Pig (100%); Platypus (93%); Bat, Opossum (86%).
• For IHC(P), use heat-induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer.
• After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.

Target Information

ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, beta1 integrin subunit, GPIIa, CD29) is a 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein widely expressed by various cell types including all leukocytes.
ITGB1 forms non-covalently linked heterodimers with at least six different alpha chains (α1–α6, CDa–f), determining the binding properties of beta1 (VLA) integrins.

• Functions as a cell adhesion molecule on platelets and as a component of protein complexes binding extracellular matrix proteins.
• Decreased expression correlates with multidrug resistance in tumor cells.
• Up-regulated in leukocytes during migration, playing a role in immune cell trafficking.
• Regulates tissue damage and inflammatory responses in diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease.
• Involved in cytokine secretion regulation in human airway smooth muscle via fibronectin and type I collagen.
• Two major isoforms exist: β1A (present in most tissues) and β1D (specific to cardiac and skeletal muscle).
