Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, approximately 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant human gp130 is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene acts as a signal transducer shared by multiple cytokines, including IL6, CNTF, LIF, and OSM. It functions as part of the cytokine receptor complex, and its activation depends on cytokine binding. vIL6, encoded by Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, can bypass IL6R and directly activate this protein. Mouse knockout studies indicate this gene plays a critical role in regulating myocyte apoptosis. Alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
