Target Information
The Schlafen (SLFN) family of proteins is preferentially expressed in lymphoid tissues and differentially regulated during thymocyte maturation. SLFN proteins are thought to play roles in cell growth, hematopoietic cell differentiation, and T cell development and maturation. Most members contain a divergent AAA domain that may be involved in ATP binding. Human SLFN12, although also referred to as SLFN3, shows relatively low homology to SLFN3 in other species. Loss of SLFN12 due to deletion is associated with Kabuki syndrome, indicating a possible role in this congenital condition.
