Target Information
FOLR2 is a member of the folate receptor (FOLR) family located on chromosome 11. Members of this family have high affinity for folic acid and reduced derivatives, mediating delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate into cells.
FOLR2 shows 68% and 79% sequence homology with FOLR1 and FOLR3, respectively. Although initially thought to be placenta-specific, it is also expressed in other tissues and may facilitate methotrexate transport in synovial macrophages of rheumatoid arthritis patients.
