Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. It catalyzes the reversible transfer of phosphate between ATP and phosphogens such as creatine phosphate. In the brain and other tissues, it acts as a homodimer, while in the heart it forms a heterodimer with a muscle isozyme. This protein belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase family, and a pseudogene has also been identified.
