Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if product is not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only before immediate use.
This antibody reacts with human SKP1. Cross-reactivity is expected against mouse SKP1 based on high sequence homology. Cross-reactivity with other SKP1 proteins or SKP1 from other sources is not known.
Target Information
The SKP1 gene encodes a component of SCF complexes, composed of SKP1, cullin 1, a ring-box protein, and one member of the F-box protein family. SKP1 binds directly to the F-box motif found in F-box proteins. SCF complexes mediate regulated ubiquitination of specific substrates, targeting them for proteasomal degradation. These substrates include regulators of cell cycle progression and development. SKP1 also functions as an RNA polymerase II elongation factor. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants, and a related pseudogene exists on chromosome 7.
