Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous TCP-1 zeta protein at a molecular weight of approximately 60 kDa.
Purity is greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

TCP-1 (t complex polypeptide 1) is a subunit of the heterooligomeric complex CCT (chaperonin containing TCP-1) found in the eukaryotic cytosol. The CCT complex consists of eight distinct subunits: TCP-1 alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, and theta, each encoded by separate genes.
Two zeta subunits have been described: TCP-1 zeta (also known as TCP-1 zeta1) and TCP-1 zeta2. These subunits have independent roles in folding actin and tubulin substrates. TCP-1 was initially identified in mice for its relevance to tail-less and embryonic lethal phenotypes. Homologous sequences have been found in other species, and yeast TCP-1 encodes a molecular chaperone for actin and tubulin. In mammalian and yeast cells, TCP-1 plays a crucial role in folding cytosolic proteins.
