Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous TEF1 protein at a molecular weight of approximately 48 kDa.
Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.


Target Information

TEF1 (Transcriptional Enhancer Factor 1) is a nuclear protein belonging to the TEA/ATTS domain family. It is expressed in numerous cell types and regulates the expression of various genes.
TEF-1 binds to GT-IIC, SphI/II, and M-CAT motifs, as well as the proximal regulatory element (PRE) of transforming growth factor-alpha, which is overexpressed in many cancers.
TEF-1 can repress transcription in placental cells and is phosphorylated by PKC isozymes both in vitro and in vivo, reducing its DNA-binding capability.
It also forms complexes with tumor antigen (TAg), suggesting a potential role in tumorigenesis. Dimerization of TEF-1 may be essential for its function as a transcriptional regulator.
