Target Information
This gene is a member of the H/ACA snoRNPs gene family involved in rRNA processing and modification. The encoded protein, along with NOLA1–3, localizes to nucleoli and coiled bodies in the nucleus and is essential for 18S rRNA production and pseudouridylation. It is also a component of the telomerase complex and homologous to yeast Cbf5p and Drosophila Nop60B. Mutations in this gene cause X-linked dyskeratosis congenita and Hoyeraal-Hreidarsson syndrome. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
