Target Information
CHCHD6 is a member of a family of proteins containing a conserved (coiled coil 1)-(helix 1)-(coiled coil 2)-(helix 2) domain. It forms a complex with mitochondrial proteins such as mitofilin, SAM50, metaxins 1 and 2, and CHCHD3. CHCHD6 knockdown leads to severe defects in mitochondrial cristae morphology, reduced cell growth, ATP production, and oxygen consumption. It also decreases mitofilin protein levels, suggesting coordinated regulation between CHCHD6 and mitofilin. CHCHD6 knockdown in human cancer cells increases sensitivity to genotoxic anticancer drugs, indicating its potential as a therapeutic anti-tumor target.
