IGFBP3는 insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) 패밀리에 속하는 유전자로, IGFBP 도메인과 thyroglobulin type-I 도메인을 모두 포함하는 단백질을 암호화합니다.
이 단백질은 insulin-like growth factor acid-labile subunit (IGFALS) 및 IGF-I 또는 II와 삼중 복합체를 형성하여 혈장 내에서 순환하며 IGF의 반감기를 연장하고 세포 표면 수용체와의 상호작용을 조절합니다.
다양한 전사적 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되었으며, IGFBP3 관련 질환으로는 Insulin-Like Growth Factor I 및 Acid-Labile Subunit Deficiency가 있습니다.
