Target Information
The CARD11 protein belongs to the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family, functioning as a molecular scaffold for multiprotein complex assembly at specialized plasma membrane regions. It also belongs to the CARD protein family, characterized by a caspase-associated recruitment domain (CARD). CARD11 and CARD14 share similar domain structures, both interacting specifically with BCL10, a positive regulator of apoptosis and NF-kappaB activation. Expression of CARD11 in cells activates NF-kappaB and induces BCL10 phosphorylation.
