Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

ATG5 (Autophagy Related 5) is an essential component of the autophagy machinery and plays roles in apoptosis and mitochondrial quality control. It is involved in negative regulation of innate antiviral responses, lymphocyte development, MHC II antigen presentation, and adipocyte differentiation.
Upon conjugation with ATG12, the complex contributes to autophagosome formation and autophagic cell death through interaction with FADD.
ATG5 expression occurs downstream of caspase activity in apoptosis and associates with innate immune proteins such as RIG-I and VISA, inhibiting type I interferon production and facilitating viral replication.
Dysfunction of ATG5 is associated with spinocerebellar ataxia.
