Product Specific Information
The DECMA-1 monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse, human, and canine CD324 (E-cadherin), also known as epithelial cadherin or uvomorulin. E-cadherin is a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in intercellular adhesion and connects to the cytoskeleton via catenins (α, β, γ) and actinins.
- Expressed in most epidermal cells, including melanocytes and keratinocytes
- Localized at intercellular boundaries of epithelial cells
- Plays a role in maintaining tissue integrity
- Loss of function implicated in cancer progression
- Sensitive to trypsin treatment — avoid exposure
The DECMA-1 antibody disrupts adhesion in human, mouse, and dog cells. It is suitable for flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry (frozen sections), and immunocytochemistry.
Tested Application:
Immunocytochemistry on formaldehyde-fixed and permeabilized MDCK cells ≤ 20 µg/mL
Careful titration recommended for optimal performance.
Optical Properties:
Excitation: 488 nm
Emission: 519 nm
Laser: Blue
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered
Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations are associated with various cancers (gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, ovarian). Loss of E-cadherin function correlates with increased proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
- Mediates bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells
- Cytoplasmic domain required for internalization
- In humans, encoded by CDH1 gene on chromosome 16
- Plays a central role in tissue architecture and integrity
