Target Information
CD3z complex is crucial in transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating TCR complex expression. T cell activation involves CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, which are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on human chromosome 11. These subunits have long cytoplasmic tails that interact with signal transduction molecules via tyrosine-based motifs. CD3 may play roles in growth arrest, survival, and proliferation. The CD3 antigen is found on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells, but not on B or NK cells. Altered T lymphocyte percentages may occur in autoimmune diseases. Diseases associated with CD3z include Immunodeficiency 25 and T-B+ Severe Combined Immunodeficiency due to CD3delta/CD3epsilon/CD3zeta.
