Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Desmin (~53 kDa) is a muscle-specific intermediate filament protein expressed predominantly in cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscle cells.
Its expression is stage- and tissue-specific, induced during terminal development of muscle differentiation.
In skeletal and cardiac muscle, desmin localizes to the Z-disk region and intercalated disks, while expression in smooth muscle is more heterogeneous.
Coexpression with vimentin is observed in muscle-derived tumors such as rhabdomyosarcomas and leiomyosarcomas.
Altered desmin distribution has been noted during myocardial dysfunction.
