Product Specific Information
- Reconstitute in 500 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
- The peptide shares 96% identity with rat and mouse sequence.

Target Information
L-glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in mammalian central nervous systems. Excess glutamate is removed by ion-coupled glutamate transporters to maintain non-toxic levels.
Four transporters are identified: GLAST-1, GLT-1, EAAC-1, and EAAT-4.
EAAC-1 is expressed in the CNS, kidney, and small intestine. Structural features include eight membrane-spanning α-helices and a loop-pore structure, as well as a highly amphipathic membrane-spanning helix providing a hydrophilic path through the membrane.
Mice with homozygous deletions of EAAC-1 show dicarboxylic aminoaciduria and reduced locomotor activity but no neurodegeneration over 12 months.
