Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated in response to cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses. ASK1 activates MKK4 and MKK6, leading to activation of JNK and p38 MAP kinases. ASK1 interacts with TRAF family proteins and Daxx, mediating TNFR and Fas signaling. Overexpression induces apoptosis, while inactive ASK1 inhibits TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
