Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is specific for mouse Stat1 protein phosphorylated at Y701. A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with Stat1 from mouse and rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Partial reactivity is expected against Stat1 from human sources as 90% homology is noted. Cross-reactivity with Stat1 from other species has not been determined.
Target Information
STAT1 (signal transducers and activators of transcription 1) is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. STAT1 can be activated by interferon-alpha, interferon-gamma, EGF, PDGF, and IL6. It regulates genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, immune responses, and lipid metabolism. STAT1 plays a crucial role in mediating cell viability in response to various stimuli and pathogen exposure.
The STAT1 gene is located on chromosome 2 and is activated to regulate gene expression in response to extracellular signaling polypeptides including cytokines, interferons, and growth factors. After phosphorylation by JAK tyrosine kinases, STAT1 enters the nucleus to regulate transcription of many genes. Among the seven STAT types, STAT1, STAT3, STAT5a, and STAT5b have a broad activation profile. STAT1 is activated by multiple ligands including IFN family (IFN-Alpha, IFN-Beta, IFN-gamma, IL-10), gp130 family (IL-6, IL-11, LIF, CNTF, G-CSF), and receptor tyrosine kinases (EGF, PDGF, CSF-1). Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms of STAT1 have been described.
